The fundamental group is not a derived invariant

We show that the fundamental group is not invariant under derived equivalence of smooth projective varieties. 2010 Mathematics Subject Classification. Primary 14-F05; Secondary 14-F35.

On the Measure-theoretic Character of an Invariant Mean

0. Introduction. M. M. Day has shown that an abelian group has only one invariant mean if, and only if, the group is finite [3, Theorem 4, p. 534]. Knowing this we now ask to what extent the invariant means on a given abelian group are alike. In this paper we shall show that they all have the same "measure-theoretic character." An invariant mean on an abelian group G is a normalized, positive, ...

A Note on Invariant Measure on the Local Gauge Group

In this paper we investigate the problem of the existence of invariant measures on the local gauge group. We prove that it is impossible to define a finite translationally invariant measure on the local gauge group C∞(Rn, G)(where G is an arbitrary matrix Lie group). Functional integral over the local gauge group is a commonly employed technique in the study of gauge field theories. Its earlies...

A measure-conjugacy invariant for free group actions

This paper introduces a new measure-conjugacy invariant for actions of free groups. Using this invariant, it is shown that two Bernoulli shifts over a finitely generated free group are measurably conjugate if and only if their base measures have the same entropy. This answers a question of Ornstein and Weiss.

Translation invariant surfaces in the 3-dimensional Heisenberg‎ ‎group

‎In this paper‎, ‎we study translation invariant surfaces in the‎ ‎3-dimensional Heisenberg group $rm Nil_3$‎. ‎In particular‎, ‎we‎ ‎completely classify translation invariant surfaces in $rm Nil_3$‎ ‎whose position vector $x$ satisfies the equation $Delta x = Ax$‎, ‎where $Delta$ is the Laplacian operator of the surface and $A$‎ ‎is a $3 times 3$-real matrix‎.
